Jakarta Bandung Itinerary 5 Days: Lembang, Ciwidey & the Whoosh Train

Contents
Need a Jakarta Bandung itinerary 5 days long? This 5D4N route pairs the cool Lembang highlands and Ciwidey tea estates with viral food in Blok M, linked by the Whoosh high-speed train (Halim, Jakarta to Padalarang, Bandung in about 30–37 minutes). It suits a group of 4, friends or family, sharing a car + driver and a villa, and was re-checked in October 2026. Do Days 1–2 on a Monday–Thursday and avoid Indonesian long holidays, when Lembang's roads jam.

Jakarta & Bandung 5-day itinerary
Day 1: KLIA → Whoosh → Lembang
The longest day, with KLIA check-in from 4 am. From Soekarno-Hatta, take a Grab to Halim Whoosh Station (40–60 minutes, about Rp100,000 per car) for brunch at one of its 80-plus stalls; pick shops with a halal logo. Ride the Whoosh to Padalarang (odd-numbered seats on the left get the view), where your driver takes you to the Parongpong villa to rest and pray.
- Tangkuban Perahu: an active volcano. Check its status at magma.esdm.go.id the day before, and stay off the crater floor.
- Gia's Grange and Orchid Forest Cikole: a flower garden with a yellow farmhouse, then pine forest and coffee at Golden Pine.
- Evening: the glowing mushroom forest of Hutan Mycelia, then a Sundanese dinner in a hut at Kampung Daun.
Day 2: All day in Lembang, evening in Braga
Breakfast on milk coffee, kaya toast and cheese banana fritters at Warung Kopi Purnama, a kopitiam since 1930, and buy banana cake at Tji Laki 9 to take home. Then combine three attractions:
- Dusun Bambu: a leisure park, with lunch at Purbasari Restaurant.
- Floating Market Lembang: a mini train, pedal boats and floating food stalls paid with special coins.
- The Lodge Maribaya: a valley swing and sky bike; a complete pass is cheaper for trying many.
In the evening, shop around Jl. Riau and Dago, eat crispy fried duck at Bebek Ali Borme and stroll Jalan Braga with a Chocomory Tiramisusu.
Tip: Kartika Sari (pisang bolen) closes around 18:00, so go there first.
Day 3: Ciwidey tea estates, Whoosh to Jakarta
Leave early for Rancabali, Ciwidey (about 2 hours). At Ecopark Curug Tilu, ride a Jimny jeep around the tea plantation (3 people per jeep), then have nasi liwet at Pawon Kang Bima, amid the tea fields. Heading back, stop for coffee and prayers at Tepi Sungai Resto, Pasirjambu.
After a spa at Mizu Signature or the Jl. Riau factory outlets, your driver drops you at Padalarang for an evening Whoosh to Halim, then dinner at Pondok Indah Mall and check-in at Blok M.
Plan B: if your bags exceed the Whoosh limit (20 kg and 3 bags per person), the driver can take you straight to Jakarta on the Cipularang toll road: 2.5–3 hours on weekdays, over 5 hours on Friday evenings and weekends. Ask for a "drop Jakarta" price when booking.
Day 4: Jakarta malls and viral food in Blok M
After old-school toast at Roti Romi Senopati, pick one area only, as Jakarta's traffic eats time:
- Option A, Thamrin: Tanah Abang Market, Thamrin City and Grand Indonesia for Muslim wear, tudung and batik.
- Option B, Senayan & SCBD: Plaza Senayan, Ashta District 8 and Lippo Mall Nusantara for international brands and cafes.
Take the MRT (contactless Visa or Mastercard accepted) back to Blok M for viral snacks such as Artirasa cheese tarts, OO Donut and Little Salt Bread. Pray Asar and Maghrib at Masjid Agung Al-Azhar, then dine at Ayam Sambel Melawai.
Tip: Blok M shops' halal status is not certificate-confirmed, so look for a halal logo at the counter.
Day 5: Kopi Tuku, PIK 2 and home
Hire a car + driver for the day to hold your luggage. Start at Toko Kopi Tuku Cipete, the original Kopi Tuku shop, then drive 1–1.5 hours to PIK 2. Lunch at Kampung Kecil PIK 2, browse local fashion brands at By The Sea PIK and relax at Pantai Aloha before the airport.
Tip: the Terminal 2F (AirAsia) VAT refund counter closes at 17:00; Terminal 3's is open 24 hours.

Halal food & prayer spaces
Most Indonesians are Muslim, so halal food and prayer rooms (musala) are easy to find, but "no pork" does not always mean halal-certified.
Halal status of places on the route
- Reported certified / halal logo: Kartika Sari, Tiramisusu Chocomory, Roti Romi, Tji Laki 9, Kampung Kecil PIK 2, and the Plaza Senayan, Kota Kasablanka and Gandaria City branches of Remboelan.
- No pork on the menu, certificate not confirmed: Warung Kopi Purnama, Kampung Daun, Bebek Ali Borme, Pawon Kang Bima and the Blok M food shops.
- Ask first: Golden Pine (sausages, hot dogs), E-Tiramisu and the Pondok Indah branch of Remboelan.
- Take care: Pantai Aloha and the PIK area (halal and non-halal stalls mixed), bakeries and Chinese restaurants.
How to recognise halal food
- Look for the "Halal Indonesia" (BPJPH) logo, or the old MUI logo on older stock. Check a shop's certificate at bpjph.halal.go.id.
- Avoid menus or labels that mention babi, B2, lard, minyak babi, angciu or arak masak.
Where to pray
- Prayer rooms are in almost every mall, MRT and Whoosh station, toll-road rest area, Kampung Daun and By The Sea PIK.
- Masjid Agung Al-Azhar is ±1 km from Blok M and holds 10,000 worshippers.
- At Soekarno-Hatta, Terminal 2F has a mosque and Terminal 3 has prayer rooms.
The qibla from Jakarta and Bandung is ±295° (north-west). Prayer times shift by less than 30 minutes through the year; Maghrib in Bandung is around 17:49 in mid-November. Travellers may combine (jamak) and shorten (qasar) prayers according to the conditions, and the guidebook has a JAKIM-method prayer timetable.
Whoosh, car + driver & Grab
Whoosh
- 62 trips a day from Halim, 06:25 to 21:25. Premium Economy costs around Rp150,000–350,000, varying by time, day and season.
- Buy in the Whoosh app, at ticket.kcic.co.id, or on Traveloka or tiket.com (handy if the app declines your Malaysian card).
- Gates close 5 minutes before departure; missed-train tickets are not refunded.
Car + driver in Bandung
Lembang and Ciwidey lie in opposite directions from Bandung, and Grab reportedly cannot pick up at Tangkuban Perahu or Maribaya. Hire a car + driver for 12 hours a day on Days 1–3, from about RM150 per car. Tolls, parking and the driver's meals are usually extra; confirm everything on WhatsApp before paying a deposit.
Malay words that mean something else in Indonesia
- Kereta means a train; say "mobil" for a car.
- Percuma means pointless; say "gratis" for free.
- Budak means a slave; say "anak" or "adik" for a child.
Book before you go
- 1 month ahead: flights, the Parongpong villa (villas fill fast at weekends), the Blok M hotel, and a car + driver for 3 days in Bandung and 1 day in Jakarta.
- 1 week ahead: an eSIM, the Day 3 Whoosh tickets, and WhatsApp Ecopark Curug Tilu (jeep) and Kampung Daun (hut).
- 3 days ahead: complete All Indonesia, check Tangkuban Perahu's status and confirm with your driver.
